Daniel Villaseñor, Deputy Secretary for Communications

Daniel VillaseñorDaniel Villaseñor serves as Deputy Secretary for Communications for the California Natural Resources Agency. Previously, he was Deputy Director of Communications for Governor Gavin Newsom where he served as the lead communications strategist and on-record spokesperson for the Governor on climate, energy, infrastructure and disaster response. During his time with the Newsom Administration, he has organized whole-of-government crisis communications strategy in the face of natural disasters including the LA fires, helped secure victory for key Administration priorities, managed multi-million-dollar website builds and advanced the Governor's goal to reinvent government communications to better serve the people of California. 

Previously, he was Communications Director for California Senate Majority Leader Emeritus Robert M. Hertzberg. Prior to working for Senator Hertzberg, Daniel launched and led the digital practice at Randle Communications, a leading public affairs and public relations firm in Sacramento. At Randle, he managed accounts spanning statewide associations confronting the top issues facing California including health care, behavioral health and housing.
