This toolkit entry was developed to support the tribes in navigating state grant processes to advance mutually beneficial priorities, including tribal stewardship.

The Navigating State Grants for Tribal Stewardship one-pager linked in the “Tools” section is designed for tribal staff, and describes how to read grant guidelines, match funding opportunities to tribal projects, and includes tips for writing grant applications.

The Tribal Grant Administration Guidance is a tool for CNRA Department staff who are designing and administering grants where California Native American tribes are eligible applicants. The Guidance provides best practices and general guidance on how to better serve tribes through equitable, culturally-relevant grant guideline development, grant applicant scoring and review, and grant administration post-award.
