Museum Grant Program

The California Natural Resources Agency is pleased to release for public comment its Draft Guidelines for the California Museum Grant Program.

The Museum Grant Program intends to solicit project proposals that assist the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) in supporting and enhancing museums that are deeply rooted in, and reflective of, previously underserved communities.

This competitive grant program, funded by a $50 Million State General Fund appropriation, will give priority consideration to projects in museums:

  • severely affected by COVID-19; and
  • that serve underserved communities or students subject to Title 1 of the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

The public comment period begins October 12, 2021, and ends on November 12, 2021.

Written comments may be submitted by e-mail to mgpcoordinator@resources.ca.govor by U.S. mail to California Museum Grant Program, California Natural Resources Agency, 715 P Street, 20th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814. The public may also provide comments at the CCHE Board meeting to be held on November 2nd, 2021.

All comments submitted within the public comment period will be reviewed and considered.  Final recommendations of the Guidelines will be presented to the CCHE board for adoption at the subsequent CCHE board meeting.  Please check back for upcoming CCHE Board meeting dates.
