Habitat Restoration on Denmark Creek

Published Date:

The Denmark Creek Fish Barrier Removal and Riparian Enhancement Project was recently completed by the Mendocino County Resource Conservation District. It included the removal of a deteriorating culvert and road debris from the creek and restoration of riparian stream habitat on Denmark Creek in the Navarro Watershed. The project opened two miles of habitat to steelhead trout, improved stream connectivity and reduced sediment entering the stream system. This past winter the creek was very full with evidence of fish making it through; additionally, there were many other critters spotted.
