Orange County to Begin Phased Reopening of Beaches

Published Date:

SACRAMENTO – Orange County has received approval from state agencies to begin safely restoring public access to the beaches it operates effective today.

The county submitted a plan to allow safe public access to its beaches that includes measures to protect public health. State agencies have determined the plan is consistent with the Governor’s Stay-At-Home order issued March 19, 2020, and that beach access can be restored. A letter to the county permitting the reopening of its beaches can be found at www.parks.ca.gov/LocalGovernments.

“I want to thank Orange County for developing this plan to enable safe beach access that protects against the spread of COVID-19,” California Secretary for Natural Resources Wade Crowfoot said.

Effective yesterday, state-operated beaches in Orange County began reopening with measures in place to protect public health. Information regarding the status of all state beaches and parks can be found at http://www.parks.ca.gov/FlattenTheCurve.
