About 60 miles north of Chico, CA is Anderson River Park which sits along the Sacramento River, downstream from Shasta and Keswick dams. In 2015, this site became the target of a multi-pronged effort to restore 15 side channels along the Sacramento River to support native fish such as Chinook salmon.
DWR Updates
Lake Oroville Community Update for July 5, 2024.
Along the North Fork of the Feather River, the Department of Water Resources (DWR) is conducting an innovative reintroduction feasibility study for Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmon that would help boost the salmon population and potentially return the species to its historic habitat.
Take the first step towards a career in the hydroelectric industry by applying for DWR’s Operations and Maintenance apprenticeship program. Completing the program leads to a full-time journey-level position with DWR.
With California experiencing extreme swings between severe drought to torrential rain, the Department of Water Resources (DWR) wanted to see if the State Water Project's largest reservoir, Lake Oroville, had shrunk (or lost storage capacity) due to weather swings and almost six decades of service.
One of the primary goals of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) is to use the newest and best available science for water management. DWR also pioneers that science, as shown recently in an article about “Using Genetic Identification to Find Spring-run Salmon and More.”
