Agriculture Water Use Efficiency
This grant program funds agricultural water use efficiency projects. There are no open solicitations at this time. Total available Proposition 1 funding for this program was $30 million. Projects funded in the 2015 solicitation are in progress.
The grant guidelines and Proposal Solicitation Package (PSP) directly support the California Water Plan’s Action One: Make Conservation a California Way of Life, as well as several other actions. Funding through this program is also directed towards agricultural water management planning and water use efficiency projects and programs developed pursuant to Part 2.8 (commencing with Section 10800) of Division 6 of the California Water Code.

The Water Use Efficiency Grant Program is instrumental in helping urban and agricultural communities cope with water shortages and drought conditions through the implementation of water use efficiency projects that would achieve water savings, provide improved operational efficiencies, as well as provide water quality improvements, energy savings, and environmental benefits. By financially assisting local agencies in implementing their water use efficiency projects and programs, this grant program helps to reduce the need for additional water supplies, reduce diversions, save energy, and improve water supply reliability. Below is a table summarizing the water savings benefits achieved from this grant program.
