Construction Contracts
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is one of six departments with authority to erect, construct, alter, repair, or improve California structures, buildings, roads or other state improvements within cost limits specified in the California Public Contract Code. DWR provides the services necessary to turn a designer’s plans into a set of bid documents and a contract that successfully leads to a completed facility. To accomplish that, qualified staff performs the following:
- Consult with designers on cost, schedules, scope of work and feasibility of projects
- Conduct value engineering
- Consult on the availability of materials and practicality of construction materials;
- Advertise the design and scope of work to bidders
- Orchestrate bidding and award processes
- Administer construction contracts
- Manage construction work
Construction management services include planning and scheduling, cost estimating, and initiating and supervising construction. Field engineers work daily with construction contractors and designers to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
