Public Comment Period Opens for the Urban Streams Restoration Program Draft Guidelines and Proposal Solicitation Package
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) announces the release of the Urban Streams Restoration Program’s (USRP) Draft Guidelines and Proposal Solicitation Package (Guidelines) for public review and comment. The USRP supports community-led projects that reduce flood and erosion risks, restore and enhance stream ecosystems, and strengthen community education and stewardship of urban and urbanizing streams.
The USRP provides funding and technical assistance for projects that reduce stream bank erosion and restore natural stream functions. The program prioritizes projects that provide direct and meaningful benefits to disadvantaged communities, improve riverine habitat connectivity, support biodiversity and climate change resiliency, use innovative solutions for stream restoration, and rely on direct input from the community regarding project planning, design, direct outreach and educational components.
