Notice of Public Meeting and Comment Period on Draft Funding Recommendation Water Desalination Grant Program - Proposition 1 Grants Continuous Application

DWR's Water Desalination Grant Program has completed review of the grant applications submitted to the Continuous Application Process (CAP). This fifth group of applications recommended for funding is referred to as CAP5.  Funding will be awarded to one  construction project and two design pilot projects.  

 

The Continuous Application Process is conducted with the same submittal and review process described in the June 16, 2017 Round 4 Proposal Solicitation Package (PSP) and the January 24, 2018 Continuous Application Process Guidance. To date, DWR has awarded over $81 million in Proposition 1 desalination grants ranging from over $100,000 to $10 million to 17 projects to support the development and construction of desalination projects in California. 

 Four applications are the subject of the CAP5 funding recommendation. Through screening, one application was determined to be incomplete, and the other three were reviewed and recommended to receive funding totaling approximately $5 million.  The recommended funding awards are consistent with the funding caps presented in the PSP. The applications recommended for funding are presented in the table below.

Comments will be accepted during the online public meeting. Grant applicants and the general public can also submit written comments on this draft funding recommendation.  Comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on February 9, 2023. Please submit written comments:
