15-Day Public Comment Period on California Plumbing Code Changes

Published:

DWR has proposed amendments to California Plumbing Code (CPC) sections dealing with plumbing design standards for recycled water. An additional 15-day comment period ending on September 3, 2021 is the public’s chance to review and provide feedback to DWR on these proposed changes. The CPC supports local building and planning departments, as well as potable and recycled water suppliers on safe use of recycled water.

To view the proposed changes to the plumbing code, go to the California Building Standards Commission webpage under the Plumbing Electrical, Mechanical and Energy (PEME) Code Advisory Committee.

Then go to the Department of Water Resources section to view PDFs that outline the amendments to the code. These new proposed amendments will be listed under Additional 15-Day Public Comment Period .

The revised code will be published as the 2022 California Plumbing Code in July 2022. New CPC rules go into effect on January 1, 2023.
