Draft Funding Recommendations for Sustainable Groundwater Management Grant Program Released for Public Comment

The California Department of Water  Resources (DWR) released the draft funding awards list for the Sustainable Groundwater Management Grant Program. A total of $47 million in financial assistance has been recommended for Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) or GSA representatives to develop Groundwater Sustainability Plans or for entities with an approved Alternative to a GSP to complete the require updates to the Alternatives.

The program is primarily funded by Proposition 68 from which $46.25 million is available. At least $1.2 million of additional Proposition 1 funds will augment Proposition 68 funding.

These funding recommendations are subject to public review for 15 days, starting on January 24, 2020 and ending on February 10, 2020.

Following the close of period and review of public comments, DWR will release the final list of awards and notify each recipient.

Public comments on the Draft Funding List must be submitted to sgwp@water.ca.gov no later than Monday, February 10, 2020 by 5 p.m. Any comments on the Draft Funding List received after that date and time will not be considered when developing the Final Funding List.
