California County Café Series – January 28, 2026
DWR, in partnership with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC), is convening a series of virtual roundtable-style gatherings for county staff who are responsible for the planning and implementation of SB 552 of 2021 (Hertzberg).
This series is scheduled in response to feedback DWR received from counties in 2023 at the end of the collaborative development of the County Drought Resilience Planning Guidebook, where counties emphasized the benefits and values of sharing information and practices. The purpose of the California County Café (C3) Series is to:
- Strengthen the County network to promote and make progress in drought resilience throughout the state.
- Share experiences, best practices, and insights to advance the implementation of SB 552.
- Identify and address immediate needs for those developing their County Drought Resilience Plan.
The C3 series is open to county staff and managers responsible for SB 552 implementation, especially the development of their corresponding County Drought Resilience Plan. Elected officials, regulatory agencies, and interested parties are welcome to tune in.
This month’s gathering will begin with researchers from UC Agriculture and Natural Resources introducing an effort focused on understanding county SB 552 plan development, stakeholder engagement, and implementation considerations. The session will also feature Marin County and Mono County, which will share reflections on completing their plans and early implementation efforts.
