ProjectWET Workshop Climate Change & California Water
The California Department of Water Resources, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Municipal Water District of Orange County, and the California ProjectWET program invite educators who work with students in grades 6-12 for a workshop learning about the science of climate change and the connection to California’s water resources.
Understanding climate change and its link to flood, drought, water quality, and more is crucial for all Californians. In this special workshop, you will learn activities to use with your students to help them understand the impacts of climate change on water and steps they can take to adapt to our changing environment.
This workshop will be an interdisciplinary exploration of climate science, how local and state water managers are applying the science to conserve California’s water resources and develop climate resilient communities – and how the interdisciplinary activities of ProjectWET can help you engage your students in the study of climate science in your class or education program!
ProjectWET activities are designed to engage students in the study of water through the use of models, interactive simulations, and reality-based scenarios. Interdisciplinary ProjectWET activities supplement existing curriculum, are correlated to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, and provide strong foundations for STEAM, Project-Based, and Service- Learning programs.
For the $20 registration fee, participants will receive:
- A wealth of information on climate science and its applications.
- An opportunity to interact with experts from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Municipal Water District of Orange County, and California Department of Water Resources.
- A copy of the ProjectWET Climate, Water & Resilience guide.
- Continental breakfast and lunch.
- An opportunity to receive 0.8 CEU credit.
- A $100 stipend and return of your registration fee following completion of the workshop!
