Third Phillips Station Snow Survey of 2020
On February 27, 2020, DWR will conduct the third Phillips Station snow survey of the season. Join DWR staff via Facebook Live as they measure water content in the snowpack, a key indicator for water supply.
Sean de Guzman, chief of DWR’s Snow Surveys and Water Supply Forecasting Section, will conduct the snow survey. Molly White, chief of DWR’s State Water Project Water Operations Office, will provide information on how DWR utilizes snowmelt data generated from this snow survey to determine how much water will be available for water supply allocations to our State Water Project customers.
The Phillips Station snow course is one of more than 260 snow courses across the Sierra Nevada that DWR manually or electronically measures each winter and early spring.
