DWR Assistant Deputy Director Honored for Work on Oroville Spillways

The Sacramento Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) on September 27 honored Ted Craddock, DWR Assistant Deputy Director of the State Water Project (SWP), with the Outstanding Civil Engineer in the Public Sector for his work last year as project manager of the Oroville Emergency Recovery project.
The award not only commends Craddock for his leadership of the massive project to rebuild the main spillway and armor the emergency spillway, but also recognizes the entire team’s efforts.
“This award is a testament to the exceptional work performed by DWR and our partners to restore the Oroville spillways for public safety,” Craddock said.
Craddock received the award at ASCE’s annual Outstanding Individual Awards Banquet at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento.
Craddock, who has been with DWR for over 24 years, has worked on a number of critical SWP projects. The Oroville Emergency Recovery effort is one of Craddock’s current responsibilities as Assistant Deputy Director of the SWP. Prior to his current position, he served as Chief of DWR’s Hydropower License Planning and Compliance Office. He also led other DWR efforts including managing the East Branch Extension (EBX) program, the design and construction of Crafton Hills Dam and Dyer Reservoir, and the engineering feasibility studies of the Sites Reservoir dams.
Craddock holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Materials Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE).
