Statewide Earth Day Events
Angel Island Cleanup Day (Tiburon)
Volunteers will remove invasive plants such as pride of Madeira, broom, and forget-me-nots to protect native species growing in those areas. Volunteers will also build fire resiliency in the park by reducing fuel for a potential wildfire, including splitting and moving downed wood. Sponsor: California State Parks Foundation
Half Moon Bay Cleanup Day (Half Moon Bay)
Help with the park’s ongoing coastal dunes and bluff habitat restoration. Volunteers will remove invasive species and prepare the area for planting native species. Work will include placing sheet mulch to suppress weeds and retain water in restoration areas. This work contributes to climate resiliency by restoring natural biodiversity and stabilizing sensitive coastal areas.

Irvine Earth Day (Irvine)
This year marks the 53rd anniversary of this celebration. Now is the time to preserve and protect our health, our families, and our livelihoods — and together, embody this year's Earth Day theme: Invest in Our Planet. Visit Quail Hill Community Center to enjoy guided hikes, a compost demo and interactive activities.

Earth Day Fair (Sunnyvale)
The Earth Day Fair will have fun, sustainable activities for the whole family. Get creative at our green teen crafting table; visit exciting booths to learn how to make sustainable choices; listen to an environmental-themed children’s story; bring your bike for a free safety check by Silicon Valley Bike Coalition, join a guided tour of our unique tree canopy; and learn how to grow food at home from Anne-Marie Bonneau, the Zero-Waste Chef.

Earth Month Celebration (Carlsbad)
Enjoy family-friendly activities, sustainability-focused booths, and live music. Activities include a clothing swap, a DIY homemade cleaning products workshop, vegetable pickling, kids’ crafts and single-use plastic utensils and plastic bag donation drop-off.

Millerton Lake State Recreation Area Cleanup Day (Friant)
Volunteers will help with maintenance projects to prevent erosion and build wildfire resiliency in the park. To reduce wildfire risk, volunteers will replace split rail fencing to prevent vehicles from driving offroad into dry grass. A separate group will help plant native trees and spread mulch in the Meadows Cove Day use area.

Chino Hills Park Cleanup Day (Brea)
Volunteers will help with park maintenance by removing invasive plant species. Work will include picking up leaf litter, picking up trash, and removing invasive mustard plants from around the Discovery Center and Telegraph Canyon Trail. Removing mustard will create a fire buffer around the Center and prevent this flammable plant from spreading further into the park.

Creek to Bay Cleanup (Carlsbad)
Help remove 30,000 pounds of litter in a single day at the 21st Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup. Register for a hosted location at cleansd.org/creek-to-bay or get outside, stay close to your home and collect litter throughout the streets of your neighborhood.

Earth Day Glendora (Glendora)

Hayward Clean Up Day (Hayward)
Family-friendly Annual Citywide Clean-Up at Weekes Park. Participants will collect litter from around Weekes Park and the nearby community. Interested volunteers will also be deployed to collect litter in neighborhoods throughout the city. The litter collection will be followed by a free lunch from a local restaurant and a community Earth Day fair, with several local organizations hosting sustainability-themed booths and activities.

2023 Berkeley Bay Festival and Earth Day Cleanup (Berkeley)
Connect with the Bay and the local community through live music, performers, food, hands-on educational activities and free boat rides. Over 30 environmental and wildlife conservation organizations from around the Bay will share their exhibits with the public.

The largest Earth Day celebration in the Sacramento region is free, and it provides thousands of attendees with information on sustainability. This year’s theme is “Grow Native.” The event will educate people about expanding the use of native plants in our region, in city streetscapes and home landscapes – how they withstand drought and heat conditions; use little water; provide a beneficial habitat to insects, pollinators, birds, and animals; create sustainable, cool, and shady streetscapes, as well as beautiful home landscapes. Experts on native plant gardening and water usage will be available to advise and nurseries with plants for sale will be on site. Bring your gardening questions!

Induction Cooking Workshop (Irvine)
Award-winning chef Katie Chin will demonstrate how to make various ethnically diverse dishes on an all-electric induction cooktop, as well as discuss the benefits from switching from a gas range to an all-electric.
