Construction of the emergency spillway

DWR has updated the 2018 Lake Oroville Operations Plan to begin construction as soon as possible this spring and maximize the 2018 construction window to ensure the main spillway is fully reconstructed before next winter.

DWR today announced that use of the Lake Oroville main spillway is unlikely this week. Inflows into the reservoir peaked on Saturday at just over 54,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). A steady outflow of 13,000 cfs from Hyatt Powerplant kept the elevation of the reservoir below 800 feet.
