Orland Area Drought Assistance Public Meeting

An informational public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 14, for Orland area residents to learn about an opportunity to connect to the city’s municipal water system.

There also will be information about emergency drought assistance resources available for households with dry residential wells.

Representatives from the City of Orland, Glenn County and California Department of Water Resources (DWR) will share information about the water system connectivity and other drought relief resources.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Glenn Success Square Conference Center, 131 E. Walker St. in Orland. Those who cannot attend in person can participate via Zoom by going to tinyurl.com/OrlandWater.

Residents immediately south and east of Orland, the areas with the highest concentration of reported dry wells and at-risk wells, are especially encouraged to attend.

The City of Orland was recently awarded a grant of nearly $8 million from DWR to provide emergency water connections to county residents. Glenn County has partnered with North Valley Community Foundation on a grant program that is under development.
