PROMOTING CLEAN, RELIABLE ENERGY

Advancing reliable energy sources will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and decrease California's reliance on foreign oil.

  • California Solar Initiative - The California Solar Initiative provides $2.8 billion in incentives to help California residents and businesses harness the sun's power. The California Energy Commission is allocating a portion of these funds to install solar panels on new homes and apartments.
  • Bioenergy Action Plan - The production and use of state biomass resources can achieve progress toward meeting petroleum reduction, climate change, and renewable energy goals, while providing strategic social, economic and environmental benefits to California.
  • Bioenergy Targets - Gov. Schwarzenegger signed an Executive Order in April 2006 establishing bold goals for the production and use of biomass products, such as ethanol and methane, to reduce California's dependence on petroleum.
