On Your Own Trips

Santa Barbara Zoological Gardens : Many international visitors have called the Santa Barbara Zoological Garden "the worlds most beautiful zoo." No Surprise! It is certainly unlike any other zoo you have ever visited. Each of the 600 "ambassadors of the wild" lives in an area of the zoo which reflects their natural habitat. As you stroll about this little slice of paradise, the animals seem to blend in with the natural beauty of our gardens.

However, the Santa Barbara Zoo is more than just a pretty face. It is about conservation, species survival, and education. The Zoo is part of an international effort to conserve rare and endangered species of wildlife. Their breeding programs have helped to save several species from extinction. In addition to over 700 animals, the Zoo offers a gift store, a Dentzel family enclosed carousel and two C.P. Huntington trains to complete your visit. The Santa Barbara Zoo invites you to explore, discover and enjoy the wonders of the wild and unique beauty of Santa Barbara.
