AUDIO-VISUAL/SPEAKER'S READY ROOM   Speakers will be able to verify audio-visual arrangements, preview slides and overhead transparencies, and practice presentations. This room will be open daily during CWO '02 registration hours.


BUSINESS CENTER   Through the Concierge desk, Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort offers photocopies, transparencies, PC prints, scanning, blank floppy disks, computer/Internet use, faxes, international faxes, and shipping. There is a fee for these services. There are also full service copy and duplication businesses within one mile of the hotel.


CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS   Cancellations will be accepted if postmarked by September 26, 2002. A $20.00 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds. No refunds will be given after September 26, 2002.

CONFERENCE PAYMENT   Credit card, check, money order and approved government or corporate purchase authorization in U.S. funds payable to CWO '02 may be used for conference registration, field trips and activity tickets. Credit cards accepted for payment are Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

CONJUNCTIVE EVENTS   The California Coastal Coalition Board of Directors meeting, Coastal Zone Foundation Board of Directors meeting, Sea Grant Association meeting, and Sea Grant Graduate Researcher Symposium will all be held in conjunction with CWO '02. In addition, numerous field trips, tours, and luncheons and receptions with guest speakers are being offered for conference attendees and guests. EXHIBIT HALL   The Poster Session, Monday Reception and all breaks will be held in the Exhibit Hall adjacent to the conference breakout rooms. Conference registration includes admission to the Exhibit Hall.


FIELD TRIPS AND TOURS   Field trips and tours related to ocean and coastal resources management are being held for conference attendees on Sunday, October 27. FILM AND MEDIA FESTIVAL   A number of films will be shown in the CWO '02 theater throughout the conference. Presentations will be scheduled each day and will be posted outside the theater. Additional film, slides and related media item proposals should be submitted no later than September 26, 2002. GUESTS AND "ON YOUR OWN" TOURS   Guests are welcome to attend CWO '02. The special guest rate of $25.00 includes admission to the Opening Session , Monday Reception and Exhibit Hall. See the Field Trips and Tours page for more information about On Your Own tours.


HOTEL RESERVATIONS   Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort has set aside a block of rooms at a special rate for CWO '02 attendees. Hotel reservations must be made by September 26, 2002 to ensure rates and availability. Rooms and conference rates cannot be guaranteed after September 26, 2002, so make your reservations as soon as possible! MESSAGE CENTER   A message board will be posted at the conference registration desk, where messages are received and posted during the CWO '02 registration hours. The direct CWO '02 message center telephone number is 805.962.9546.


PRESS ROOM   CWO '02 will offer a press room daily, open during conference registration hours. Pre-registered, credentialed media representatives will have their basic registration fees waived and, upon arrival at the conference, should check in with the CWO '02 Conference Registration Desk to pick up their registration packet. Activity tickets will require payment of the activity fees. Credentialed media representatives that have not pre-registered must first check in at the Press Room before registering at the CWO '02 Conference Registration Desk.


PROCEEDINGS   The CWO '02 proceedings will contain approximately 2,000 pages of conference papers and will be available about four to six months following CWO '02. Due to generous conference support from sponsors and co-sponsors, we anticipate that the cost for these proceedings will be minimal if ordered during the conference. Order forms will be available at CWO '02.

REGISTRATION   All attendees, including speakers and session chairs, are required to register. Advance registration will not only speed up check-in time at the Conference Registration Desk and save you money, but will also ensure your ability to attend. Due to space limitations, on-site registration may not be available. Attendees whose registration is received on or before September 26, 2002 will pay the lowest registration fee. Registration received after September 26, 2002 and before October 25, 2002 requires payment of the on-time registration fee. See Conference Registration for more information.

Registrations made via the website will receive immediate confirmation that can be printed. Registrations made by phone, fax or mail by October 11 will receive written confirmation by mail. Please present this confirmation to the registration desk at CWO '02. Registration confirmations can also be received by calling Conference Registration at 805.568.0588. Conference check-in and on-site registration (if available) are scheduled as follows:

SPEAKERS AND SESSION CHAIRS   All attendees, including speakers and session chairs, are required to register. Speakers and session chairs are asked to visit the Speakers' Desk after registering. This check-in verifies arrival and also gives CWO '02 coordinators an opportunity to review audio-visual arrangements, provide information about speakers' breakfasts, and to share details of last-minute changes. Speakers and session chairs are invited to a continental breakfast at 7:00 a.m. on the day of their presentation or session. This informal breakfast provides an opportunity to meet other speakers and session chairs, and to discuss presentations and session formats.

SPONSORS AND CO-SPONSORS   Conference sponsors have generously donated a minimum of $5,000 each to reduce conference registration fees and the cost to produce the post-conference proceedings. Co-sponsors have graciously provided in-kind services or financial assistance to keep conference expenses to a minimum. TRANSPORTATION   Santa Barbara, about two hours north of the Los Angeles area, is easily accessible by car, plane or train. Amtrak has a station 1.5 miles from Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort. The resort offers free shuttle service from the Santa Barbara Airport, which is 18 miles northwest of the hotel. To schedule a pickup via the hotel shuttle, please phone 805.564.4333. A wide variety of rental car agencies are available at the Santa Barbara Airport within a short walking distance of the terminal. Discounted airfares and car rental rates have been arranged for conference attendees. Reservations can also be made for travel by boat, train and bus. VOLUNTEERS   Volunteers are needed to assist with conference operations over the four days of CWO '02. A basic registration waiver may be available. All CWO '02 volunteers will meet on either Saturday, October 26 or Sunday, October 27 to confer with conference organizers, verify or receive assignments, tour the conference facilities, and become familiar with conference operations and equipment. WEATHER   Santa Barbara has a temperate climate, with breeziness and an average daily high of 76 degrees Farenheit (24 degrees Celsius) and an average daily low of 55 degrees Farenheit (13 degrees Celsius) in October. We recommend informal business attire for the conference and a sweater or light jacket for cool evenings. Tropical dinner attire is recommended for the Tuesday night Celebration. Light showers or rain are always a possibility in October; an umbrella is advisable.
